Joe writes to "My Dear Dear Bell" from Memphis. Informs he is growing impatient to muster out: "...One day it will be that an order has just been received to muster out all "Detached men" who are absent from their commands and the next day it will be contradicted." Comments on the rumors they are exchanging "love letters." Asks how the frosts have affected the fruit up north.
