At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Agreement that John Bullock has given power of attorney to Francis Waldo, in order for Waldo to recover a bond given by the late Samuel Waldo to the late Josiah Bullock. Signed by John Bullock, as well as William Harper as witness. Also present is a note signed by Francis Waldo acknowledging receipt of a sum of money from Thomas Flucker, relating to John Bullock's bond.
