At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by Augustin Prevost. Title continues: by an officer of the guards, in two volumes, comprising of the campaigns of 1793, 1794 and the retreat through Holland to Westphalia in 1795. This is volume 1. Color engraving of a Hungarian foot soldier on second page. There is a traced image in pencil of the soldier on the other side of the page. Same page that Prevost signed. Published by Cadell and Davies, Strand.
