Countersigned by Samuel Freeman, as secretary, who has also penned Warren's signature at the right bottom of the document. Partially printed document from the Congress of Massachusetts Bay Colony announcing the appointment of Perkins to the post of Captain of the company in the Regiment of Foot commanded by Colonel Moses Little. Autograph note on verso signed by Jonathan Hastings, Justice of the Peace and dated 1 July 1775 certifies that Perkins took the oath of appointment. Warren was President of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress. He was also elected Major General of the Militia and commanded at Bunker Hill but was killed in the battle 17 June 1775.
