Book of records for Knox's artillery regiment. Contains inventories of artillery, notes regarding regimental activities and some daily entries. Samuel Shaw created the book, which dates between 12 January 1777 and 24 March 1777. The first page, probably the cover page, contains sketches, some appear to be of cannon. Page 2 is a list of the amount of ammunition delivered to various officers. At bottom is a note informing Captain Lieutenant Joseph Crane that he is "considered as no longer an officer in the Corps of Artillery." States this document is a copy, and that the original was…

Wells certifies receipt of eleven dollars from Samuel Shaw, Henry Knox's aide-de-camp, "for the expence of going to Bethlehem and bring Genl Knox's Baggage to camp and for having a new Tongue made to the Waggon." Written in Samuel Shaw's hand. Costs for Knox during the war. It is noted that all accounts are kept "in Currency of 7/6 to the Dollar." Most of it is for sundries, clothing, loans to various people, and room and board. Some interesting items include: a purchase of a saddle by Benjamin Lincoln from Knox on 1 July 1777, a notation that "Lt. Col. Hamilton R'd C. to the Commander in Chief" on 3 August 1777, a note that Lucy Knox was given $500 on 20 November 1777, and a note on the expenses of Lucy Knox's travels from Fredericksburgh, New York to Booneton [Boonton], New Jersey.

Laundry bill from time at Valley Forge. The total was for slightly over 17 dollars. Gives a detailed list of items and how much each cost to clean. Docket notes that this includes "5 Dozzen Clothes for Mrs Knox a Dollar pr Dozzen." Shaw also had washing done. It is noted on the document that Katy the washwoman was the wife of Marshall Saxe.

Writes to discuss business endeavors with Knox. Declares that as he has not had a response from Mr. [possibly Robert] Morris in four weeks, he has changed his plans. Instead of remaining in Boston and trying to sell Mr. Morris's teas, which he is holding at "12 per cent higher than the market price," he has asked his brother-in-law, Mr. Parkman, to manage his business affairs and will come to New York to visit Knox and his wife.
