All are "enjoying good healthy and laying in camp." Not much to do. Wishes he could see her and the rest of his family. Thirty miles from Petersburg. Draftees and substitutes get sent to the front line immediately. Has been "some time" since he heard from her. Wants to know if she has received the money he sent her. Has been cooling down significantly in the area. "It is Sunday, but I can't see [any] difference; it is all the same here." Wants to know if she has dug the potatoes yet.
