Gilder Lehrman Home for History: Best Practices Awards

Since the Gilder Lehrman Institute launched its new website in April, we’ve heard some great stories about how educators have used Home for History to support classroom learning. We also know that many schools are already using our resources to meet the Common Core requirements. Our primary source documents, in particular, are being used to teach a range of critical thinking and writing skills in English language arts and history classes.

Tell us more! We are offering up to twenty $500 awards to members of our Affiliate Schools network who show innovation and excellence in using our resources through classroom applications and student projects. Top submissions will be posted on our website so that these best practices can be shared.

Applications must be received by January 1, 2013.

The awards can be used for classroom enhancement, professional development, or even trips to historical sites for you or your students.

Explore our website now to see what materials are available for classroom use, including:

  • The Gilder Lehrman Collection of historical documents
  • Podcasts of historians’ talks
  • Articles by leading historians
  • Online interactives

Be sure to complete your application for a $500 award! Twenty awards will be made in 2012–2013.
