Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A sentiment in which Colson writes that giving his heart to Jesus was the most important thing he has ever done. Refers to Galatians 2: 20 (but does not quote). Colson was a Nixon advisor convicted in the Watergate scandal who experienced a conversion while in prison. He popularized the term "Born Again Christian."
