Abbot.” Henry Larcom Abbot of the First Topographical Engineers, who compiled this map, was an 1854 West Point graduate. Abbot was wounded at First Manassas; he reached the rank of brevet major general. Postwar, he served as a consulting engineer for the Panama Canal.
