Collection will be closed from June 1, 2008 through the spring of 2009.
During this time, we will be unable to accommodate researchers or process
any requests for images or photocopies.

If you would like to request copies of images from the Collection, please

Visiting the Collection (beginning
in 2009)
The Collection may be consulted by qualified researchers in its Reading
Room by appointment. Reading Room hours are Monday through Friday
11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. [the Reading Room is closed on Fridays in the summer].
You may link to the online catalogue of the GLC to assist in preparation
of the request at www.gilderlehrman.org/search.
Researchers can apply for access by submitting the following:
- A written request containing a description of the purpose and scope
of the research project. The request must also state the materials being
requested and an explanation of why access to the original materials
is necessary for research.
- A letter of recommendation specifically addressed to the Gilder Lehrman
Collection from a source qualified to evaluate the applicant's use of
original materials and/or ability to conduct historical research.
