Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Sylvia says getting his letters always makes her feel better; but if he doesn't have the time, two letters a week is enough. Says she is feeling better and back to her old self. Comments on how Moe is now in charge of waking the other soldiers up. Says how much her sister helps her with laundry and other chores around the house. Ends the letter with a lipstick kiss.
