A long white Government Repair Shop stretches across the image with a large group of workers standing on the wooden sidewalk out front. Two men are off by themselves, one of whom appears to be either a soldier or policeman, on the right side of the image near a blurry figure in civilian clothes. Washington became a major center for army services during the war. Numerous government repair shops [some massive in size] employing hundreds of skilled and unskilled workers were established to keep the armies running. Numeric notation on verso: "XXIX" and "836." A very similar photo can be see in .0138.
