Belief that Walter Taylor has prompted the recent articles about Gettysburg, in an attempt to clear his name at the expense of Lee; forwarding a letter from Allen Potts.

Dear Sam.
I sent you yesterday a letter from Allen Potts to read - I forgot to ask you to return it. I hope you have been inaugurated. I shall not publish a reply to Talcott for a month or so. - People are tired of reading about Gettysburg. I hope to write an answer that will be final. The truth is Talcott is a mere figure head - Walter Taylor is the real man. Taylor is not fighting for Gen. Lee but for himself. I have proved him to be a great liar. He is trying to move his prove his innocence at the Expense of Gen. Lee.
Very Truly
