Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses his recent arrival in Ducktrap, and the lack of difficulty he had during his arrival. Reports on how several local townspeople feel about Knox as an absentee landowner, and relates that some are suspicious of him and do not think he will ever come to Ducktrap again. Mentions how several individuals are reacting to Samuel Ely's insurgency, and also considers how the General Court is responding to the threat against Knox's property.
