Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Regrets living so far from her dearest friends. Writes at length about her hopes that Knox will make good on his promise and help take care of her and her children. Has spoken to several friends on the subject, including General [David] Cobb, and they support her asking for Knox's help achieving justice for her children. Also discusses paying a debt she owes Knox.

Sarah Lyons Flucker was the wife of Lucy Knox's brother, Captain Thomas Flucker. She got remarried, after Captain Flucker's death, to Bon-Albert Briois de Beaumez, circa 1796.
