Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Describes how her son Tom is feeling unwell and discusses his illness. Expresses her wish to see "my Dear Brother and Lucy with the little Flock" though states that she cannot travel at the moment. Continues with news of family and mutual acquaintances.

Sarah Lyons Flucker was the wife of Lucy Knox's brother, Captain Thomas Flucker. She got remarried, after Captain Flucker's death, to Bon-Albert Briois de Beaumez, circa 1796.
