Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Summarizes cases heard in court. Addressed to Burd as the prothonotary of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Smith was a member of the Continental Congress 1776-1778 from Pennsylvania and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. At this time, he was practicing law in York, Pennsylvania.
