Alan Taylor

Alan Taylor holds the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Chair in the Department of History at the University of Virginia. His publications include The Civil War of 1812: American Citizens, British Subjects, Irish Rebels, and Indian Allies (2010), which was a finalist for the George Washington Book Prize; William Cooper’s Town: Power and Persuasion on the Frontier of the Early American Republic (1995), which won Pulitzer and Bancroft Prizes; and The Internal Enemy: Slavery and War in Virginia, 1772-1832 (2013).
